“Every month there are some mandatory costs that seem to get bigger and bigger lately.
The first and most important one is the food. I need around 3 tons pet food per month + cans or special diets. I would like to be able to provide better quality food for them but at the time this is just a plan.
The second cost, quite high, but essential is monthly salary to the care workers. They are doing a good job in keeping the place clean and safe, but they have asked for salary raises and the pressure is quite high.
The third high cost is vet bills and medicines. This is an unpredictable cost and always high when it comes to admitting even one dog to the vet. This is the most difficult cost to cover from donations from what I notice. I always have to find money somehow to cover the debts. If it happens to have puppies with parvo or any other issues, the costs go to the roof.”
Näin kertoo Carpe tarhan omistaja Carmen Mandescu kun kysymme tämänhetkisistä haasteista tarhalla. Naapurimaan sotatila on saanut myös koiranruoan hinnan kohoamaan pilviin ja tällä hetkellä myös Carpen tarhalla riittävän ruoan takaaminen on jatkuvaa taistelua. Samalla tarhan työntekijöiden palkat on maksettava ja sairastuneiden eläinten hoitoon löydettävä varat jostakin.
Päivittäisten tarpeiden lisäksi tarhalla on joitakin ongelmia, jotka vaatisivat pikaista parantelua ja korjausta, mutta joiden toteuttamiseen ei tällä hetkellä ole varoja. Ongelmat vaikeuttavat tehokasta työskentelyä tarhalla ja vaikuttavat koirien oloihin negatiivisesti.
Näin kertoo Carmen:
“Right now, besides these constant needs, there are some things I need to solve quite fast.
In the shelter, I need to rebuild the well. It needs to be cleaned, repaired because the water is not ok anymore and it’s becoming quite urgent. I have no idea how much it will cost, but it needs to be quality work.
In the shelter there are also some repairs that need to be done that I kept postponing. This is not urgent, but it would be nice to repair some paddocks where the concrete is damaged and I need to complete cement behind the house because I need more stability of the house. If I think about the winter season there are some dog houses that need to be replaced.
This week, on top of everything else the car broke down right when I was taking the dogs to the vet. It needs repairing as well and it needs it fast. Just what I needed.
